A Safe Material Handled Safely
If handling mineral wool manually, consider risks as required by Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992. Care should be taken at all times to avoid strain to the handlers. In all cases, good sense should prevail. Workers differ in size and strength and should not be permitted to attempt manual work which may be beyond their capability.
The handling of mineral fibre may irritate the skin, throat and eyes.
Protective clothing, eye protection and respiratory protection are all recommended when handling mineral fibre insulation in enclosed situations to reduce skin, throat and eye irritation.
Unnecessary handling of unwrapped mineral fibre is not recommended.
